Description of the Crest
The motto written in Sanskrit Devanagari script on the top is a prayer for leading humanity from darkness to light. The book and lamp are the eternal symbols of knowledge and light. The Konark wheel not only indicates the achievement of the people of Orissa in the field of art and architecture but also stands for progress. The waterfall next to the wheel stands for the scenic spots and natural potentialities of the locality. The name of the college is inscribed in English at the bottom.

Evolution of Vikram Dev University
A Journey Established in 1947, Vikram Dev College in Jeypore, Orissa, was born from the fervent local desire for higher education in an underdeveloped tribal region. With support from the Government and philanthropist King Rajarshi Vikram Dev Verma, who donated land and resources, the college commenced its journey with 49 students and 09 teachers. Maharaja Vikram Dev Verma's dedication to culture and learning led to the renaming of the college in 1951 to "Vikram Dev College" as a tribute. The institution progressed, gaining first-grade status in 1961 and introducing undergraduate and honors programs in Science, Humanities, and other disciplines. Postgraduate studies began in various departments from 1979 onwards, and in 1993-94, Chemistry postgraduate studies were initiated. This growth culminated in achieving VIKRAM DEV UNIVERSITY status in 2023, marking a remarkable transformation from its modest origins to a beacon of higher education in the region.
